The mathematics teacher certification degree plan intends to make the best possible use of core curriculum, free electives, and mathematics electives thereby including all of the certification requirements into the degree plan. Students majoring in mathematics who intend to teach will have their certification in mathematics. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics also provides several free electives to be chosen by the student as well as incorporating all requirements for the degree and teacher certification.
Most commonly called a "field plan”, this document will be submitted to the College of Education upon admittance into the professional phase of teacher certification (typically in the junior year). These courses are included in your degree plan and are those courses specifically required by the state for you to be a certified teacher.
If you are not a mathematics major and want to teach mathematics at the high school level, please contact the aggieTEACH Program Coordinator to discuss your options.
