The physics teacher certification degree plan intends to make the best possible use of core curriculum, free electives, and chemistry electives thereby including all of the certification requirements into the degree plan. Students majoring in physics who intend to teach will have their certification in physical science with a physics core. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics also provides several free electives to be chosen by the student as well as incorporating all requirements for the degree and teacher certification.
Most commonly called a "field plan”, this document will be submitted to the College of Education upon admittance into the professional phase of teacher certification (typically in the junior year). These courses are included in your degree plan and are those courses specifically required by the state for you to be a certified teacher.
If you are not a physics major and want to teach physics or physical sciences at the high school level, please contact the aggieTEACH Program Coordinator to discuss your options.
