TEFB 201 (SCEN 289)
Self-Directed Studies with Adolescents

Designed specifically for mathematics and science majors considering teaching as a career, TEFB 201 (SCEN 289) is a one-hour, field-based course that should be taken in your first or second year as an undergraduate.

Students in TEFB 201 (SCEN 289) are introduced to a wide variety of education topics that include, but are not limited to: standards for learning, lesson planning, classroom management, special education, and cultural diversity in the school context.  Additionally, students are placed in area schools with aggieTEACH mentor teachers for 10 weeks - 5 weeks in a middle school and 5 weeks in a high school – to better understand the role of an educator in today's classrooms and to work with students.

  • Offered only during the fall semester
  • Enrollment is limited to math and science majors ONLY (or by approval of aggieTEACH Program Coordinator)
  • Class meets once a week on campus and requires 10-15 hours of field experience; attendance at all meetings and field experiences is required
