This course, formerly INST 210, is usually taken in the second semester of the freshman year or during the sophomore year, INST 310 is a three-hour course that introduces students to the referral, assessment, and categorization of special populations including physical, cognitive, and affective characteristics; cultural, ethnic, economic and linguistic differences; giftedness; special education and compensatory programs; and awareness of legislative history that results in rights for special populations.
