TEFB 322
Teaching and Schooling in Modern Society

Usually taken in the sophomore or junior year, TEFB 322 (also called EDCI 489) is a three-hour course designed to explore the development, structure, management, and finance of secondary schools; historical, philosophical, ethical, and moral dimensions of teaching; the role of school in a democratic society; and teaching as a profession. 

In addition to regularly scheduled class meetings, this course requires 45 hours of field experience to be completed during the semester.  Students have the opportunity to visit classrooms, volunteer groups, and educational organizations as well as conduct interviews with school personnel and participate in online discussions. 

It should be noted that this course is reading and writing intensive and students should prepare accordingly.
